Does Matt Damon have Rugby hair?
January 28, 2010 1 CommentPictured here in his role as Francois Pienaar in the movie ‘Invictus’, it’s hard to tell whether Damon has what it takes or not.
Jason Bourne would have been handy in the middle of a ruck or at the pub afterwards if things got a little out of hand.
As the talented Mr Riply, he was able to take on the persona of just about anyone but a 6ft 4in battle-hardened Springbok blind side flanker is another story.
When Damon met Francois Pienaar, he made the point that the camera can make him look bigger but could it make up for the significant shoulder width and leg strength variance?
Then there’s the jawline.
They did seem to get the nose-bridge right and the ‘shorts were always just a little too high’ thing.
Damon played rugby in ‘The Departed’ and seemed to show some aggression, even if he was a bad sport and a little mouthy afterwards.
The Oscar winner was concerned to do justice to the role and so spent a lot of time in the gym to prepare but perhaps he should have spent more time in the hair salon because they didn’t get the ‘post match brushed-forward, tuft-on-top, blond hair with natural dark roots’ look at all.

Also, there is no way to make up the 8 inch height difference, accentuated by Morgan Freeman being taller than Nelson Mandela.
Freeman may have been born to play Mandela, in fact Mandela wanted Freeman to play him but it’s doubtful whether the great Pienaar ever had Matt Damon in mind to represent him on the big screen.
Dolf Lundgren perhaps?
