Young New Zealand sevens player Joe Webber returned to the Kiwi side for the 2012 Hong Kong Sevens after missing out on selection for the Wellington and Las Vegas events. He had his small rats tail with him.

The young All Black came to prominence when he had a short top and sides with a curly mullet at the back. After making the Hurricanes and All Blacks last year, he went with a more conservative look. Now he has gone back to his roots, playing very well for the Manawatu Turbos. The talented five eighth has also gone back to the short topped curly mullet that worked for him earlier in his career and it may just be the edge he needs to force his way into the All Black World Cup squad.

Rookie New Zealand sevens player, Declan O’Donnell has a platted tail out to the right and side – the opposite side to Kurtis Haiu of the Blues but it doesn’t really meet our Rats Tail standards – we’ll give him more time …

The Canterbury sevens speedster has a small multi-strand bunch of platted tails at the back of his head that kind of resembles a hand that has been caught in a meat mincer – much like the butcher scene in the Mike Myers’ movie, ‘So I Married an Axe Murderer’ … kind of.

The many looks of Hika Elliott

Hawkes Bay, Chiefs and All Black hooker, Hika Elliott frequently changes his hairstyle.

Lately he has just enough length to bring back some colour.

Earlier in the year he had it short but he still finds a lot of variety using shaped buzz cuts.

We caught up with Elliott after the Auckland v Hawkes Bay ITM Cup match at Eden Park 1 Oct, 2010.

The trend-setting hooker also has a tattoo on each of his forearms.

The visible Roman numerals equate to 1080.

We assume this has some significance for the Hawkes bay man.

We will ask him about it next time.
